Rare, very mature Premier Cru Burgundy
The wine-making at Robert Ampeau has long been traditional. The reds are 100% destemmed, fermented in cement, open-topped vats at a maximum of 30C with regular pigeage and aged for up to 12 months in 10% new oak barrels. One of the earliest ripening sites in the Côte de Beaune which gives a beautiful, ripe, sunny wine. 1990 was the finest vintage of the period and this is a great example – a powerful, complete wine full of dark fruits and spice.
